National Semiconductor

Introduction:As mobile technology evolves, base stations are required to provide much higher data rate and voice capacity. All these demand higher performance signal path solutions and, at the same time, energy efficiency. National Semiconductor has ample experience with these requirements, having provided a wide range of high performance signal path solutions for wireless base station (BTS) in 2G, 2.5G, 3G and 4G systems, including data converters (ADC and DAC), high-speed amplifiers, timing and clocking, and power management. This seminar will discuss the new system requirements and its implications to component selection.

Introduction:To build a high performance industrial system, precision products such as low offset operational amplifiers and high resolution ADCs are used to improve the signal input from transducers to the digital core. While the signal quality is important in these systems, the market is also demanding systems with less power consumption and higher reliability. This webinar will discuss how to optimize the power hungry signal path to achieve reduced power consumption, high precision and reliability.

Introduction:Advanced OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex) technologies impose additional challenges and requirements for testing new wireless communication devices and systems. This paper compares and contrasts traditional single-carrier modulation schemes with multi-carrier OFDM schemes to understand the test equipment and measurement considerations when using modern vector signal generators and analyzers. It covers in detail spectrum, power, and modulation quality measurements and techniques for R&D and high-speed production test applications. The paper covers testing of both SISO (single-input, single-output) and MIMO (multiple-input, multiple-output) communications systems used in 802.11n WLAN, 802.16e mobile-WiMAX Wave 2, which are also applicable to future LTE and UMB cellular standards.
