Connecting To The New DisplayPort™ Standard

  • Q: Are these cables UL approved
  • A: Molex DisplayPort cable assembly is UL recognised products
  • Q: What is the max current for the connecter?
  • A: The DP specification defines this as 0.5 A minimum. The specification does not define a maximum.
  • Q: when will the Dongle and Adaptor be available in the market ?
  • A: Early Production Samples and qualification volume on DP-HDMI and DP-DVI will be available in ~Jan, 2008.
  • Q: Power consumption for DP electronics?
  • A: 1W for all DP-DVI, DP-HDMI and DP-VGA dongles/adapters.
  • Q: DP to Dual link DVI possible ?
  • A: Yes. But at this time there are no one-chip solutions. So the adapter would likely have to be implemented in an external box with an external power supply. Currently Molex is not planning to develop this product.
  • Q: Is there any license fee for DP in the future?
  • A: Customer requirements.
